• With batteries in series,  you double the amount of volts, but your amps remain the same. In other words, if you take two 6 volt  batteries and connect them as pictured below, you would end up with a 12 volt output.

• Likewise,when you want to double up in amp-hours you can link the batteries up in parallel.  With batteries in parallel, the voltage remains the same but the amperage increases. For example, if you are requiring a voltage of 6, but will need 220 amps, you can use two 6 volt 110 amp-hour batteries, link them in parallel as pictured below.Why stop at just two batteries? If you wire your batteries in both series and in parallel using (6) 6 volt 220 amp-hour batteries you can get an output of 660 amps!

• The best temperature to charge a battery in is at moderate temperatures although some batteries permit charging under cold conditions, such as Absorbed glass mat or Sealed Lead Acid  (SLA) batteries. It’s best to check the manufacturers recommendations.
• If you plan to rapid charge a battery in cold weather, it’s best to use a heating blankets.
• A moderate DC discharge is better for a battery than pulse and aggregated loads.
• When a battery is discharging at a high frequency, capacitor-like characteristics are produced allowing higher peak currents than is possible with a DC load.
• what ever you do, do not try to recharge a frozen batter, as it may explode.

So in short, batteries love to be used in moderate/ warm temperatures. Of course to much cold, or to much hot weather can shorten the lifespan of  your battery. This is especially true of batteries used for seasonal applications like Marine Batteries or Motorcycle Batteries.  When in question, it’s always a good idea to contact the manufacturer and ask for suggestions to improve your batteries performance.
